There are pieces of art you buy because you like the way they look and then there are pieces that somehow represent a part of your own story. This is one of those pieces.
Rocky has always been more than a movie character to me. The message has always been about getting back up, continuing to fight, and finding a way to Keep Moving Forward no matter what life puts in front of you. John Rivoli captures that spirit perfectly in Gettin’ Strong Now.
What I love most about this piece is that it isn’t Rocky celebrating after the fight. It’s Rocky looking out over Philadelphia, preparing to walk into the arena. That moment says everything, the work has been done, the challenge is still ahead, and you go anyway.
John doesn’t simply paint Rocky. He understands what Rocky represents to the people who have carried these movies and their message with them throughout their lives.
Proud to own this one. It will have a special place in my collection for a very long time.
Keep Moving Forward.
